Hi, I'm December.

Attorney • Educator • Survivor Advocate

I created The Empath’s Advocate because I know that navigating narcissistic abuse can require more than emotional support. Sometimes you are also trying to understand your legal options, document what is happening, protect your children, manage a high-conflict workplace, untangle shared finances or living arrangements, and simply figure out what to do next.

My approach to this work comes from both professional experience and lived experience.

My Professional Background

I have been licensed to practice law in Florida since 2020 and have operated my own private practice for several years, handling matters involving employment and family law.

I am also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator and County Mediator, a role I have held for approximately five years. My mediation work has strengthened my understanding of conflict, communication, negotiation, family dynamics, and the difficult decisions people face when relationships break down. I also hold a certificate in Civil Trial Advocacy.

My professional background began long before I became an attorney. For nearly 15 years, I worked in financial services and regulatory environments, including work involving market manipulation, regulatory compliance, and investigations affecting international financial institutions. That experience taught me how to examine complicated situations carefully, identify patterns, evaluate documentation, and separate assumptions from evidence.

Those skills now shape the way I approach education and advocacy at The Empath’s Advocate.

Education Has Always Been Part of My Path

I have always believed that understanding a problem gives you more power to respond to it. My academic background spans law, business, language, public policy, and psychology. I hold:

Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics
Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business
Bachelor of Arts in French

I also completed graduate-level study in public policy, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology. These studies have allowed me to deepen my understanding of human behavior, relationships, conflict, emotional well-being, and the psychological dynamics that can exist within unhealthy relationships. That combination of law, psychology, policy, business, communication, and conflict resolution influences everything I create here.

But This Work Is Personal, Too.

I have experienced narcissistic dynamics within my family, and several years ago I went through a deeply damaging intimate relationship that changed the direction of my life.

There was gaslighting. Lying. Infidelity. Manipulation. And eventually, physical abuse.

Although we were not married, our lives were intertwined in ways that created legal and practical complications because we lived together.

It was an experience that came frighteningly close to breaking me.

And like many people who experience this type of relationship, leaving was only part of the story. I still had to understand what had happened, rebuild my confidence, untangle the practical consequences, heal emotionally, and learn how to recognize patterns I had not fully understood while I was living through them.

That process changed the way I viewed both my professional work and my own experiences.

It also showed me how fragmented the available help can be.

You may find a therapist who understands trauma but cannot explain the legal side of what you are facing.

You may find a lawyer who understands the law but has limited time to explain the emotional dynamics that make dealing with a high-conflict person so difficult.

You may read advice telling you to “document everything,” “set boundaries,” or “protect yourself” without anyone explaining what those things actually look like in everyday life.

The Empath’s Advocate was created to help bridge those gaps.

What You’ll Find Here

This is a place for practical education, tools, and resources designed to help people navigating narcissistic and high-conflict situations become more informed and better prepared.

That may include:

  • tools for organizing and documenting what is happening;

  • educational information about legal issues and strategies;

  • resources for understanding narcissistic and high-conflict behavior;

  • connections to counseling and professional support;

  • self-help courses and educational resources;

  • guidance for preparing for difficult conversations, mediation, or legal processes; and

  • practical next steps when you are not sure where to begin.

The Empath’s Advocate is not about telling you what decision to make.

It is about helping you understand your situation, identify your options, and move forward with more information, preparation, and confidence.

Because sometimes the first step toward taking your power back is simply understanding what you are dealing with.
